Christy LIM is the Head of the Banking & Finance Practice.

A market leader in the Banking & Finance space (with in-depth specialisation across various areas of banking practice), Christy led numerous high-value domestic and cross-border financing transactions and has a distinguished portfolio of work. Named as a leading practitioner in numerous legal directories, Christy is the lawyer of choice for complex, headline-making financing deals spanning various jurisdictions throughout the Asia-Pacific region, which includes leveraged and acquisition financing, data centre and infrastructure financing, real estate and development financing, fund financing and other corporate finance transactions. She is also very active in the ESG financing and private credit space.

Beyond the legal fraternity, Christy was a member of the Executive Committee of the Financial Women's Association Singapore (FWA), an organisation that drives professionalism in the financial sector (appointed the Assistant Honorary Secretary of FWA). She is also a committee member of Star Shelter (registered as an IPC), which is a direct service of Singapore Council of Women’s Organisation (SCWO). Star Shelter is the only secular shelter for women in Singapore and provides safe space for women and children who are survivors of family violence. Christy is also a former Board member of SCWO, which is the National Coordinating body of women’s organisations in Singapore with over 60 member organisations and representing over 600,000 women.

Christy is a member of the International Bar Association and is a regular delegate at IBA Financial Law Conferences. She is also one of our firm’s representatives on REIT Association of Singapore.

She is an adjunct instructor at the School of Law at the Singapore Management University.

Significant transactions that Christy has been recently involved in include advising / acting for the following:

  • The financiers led by DBS, HSBC and UOB (as mandated lead arrangers and bookrunners) in the S$1.064 billion syndicated financing relating to the acquisition by the joint venture entity ("Supreme JV") between Lendlease and Warburg Pincus LLC of US$1.2 billion portfolio of Singapore industrial assets. This deal is one of the largest transactions involving a private portfolio of industrial assets in Singapore and marks the first transaction for the joint venture platform focusing on the life science and R&D real estate market in Asia-Pacific. This deal has been named the "Best Property Deal" in FinanceAsia Achievements Awards 2024.
  • DBS Bank Ltd., Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited, United Overseas Bank Limited, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Singapore Branch, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Singapore Branch Bank of China Limited, Singapore Branch, China Construction Bank Corporation, Singapore Branch and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, Singapore Branch as financiers in the syndicated facilities to Singtel Somerset Pte. Ltd. (a joint venture between SingTel and global real estate group, Lendlease) to finance the redevelopment of Singapore Telecommunications Limited’s Comcentre headquarters (which is being redeveloped at a cost of S$3 billion) and will be the largest Grade-A office space in the Orchard Road precinct. It is on track to become Singapore’s first development that is end-to-end carbon-neutral, encompassing its design, construction and operations.
  • The syndicate of lenders in respect of a S$1,300,000,000 term and revolving facilities made between (i) Singapore Central Private Real Estate Limited and HKL (Esplanade) Pte Limited, as original borrowers, (ii) DBS and OCBC, as mandated lead arrangers, (iii) DBS and OCBC, as lenders, (iv) DBS, as facility agent, and (v) DBS, as security agent, which involves Hongkong Land injecting its interests in One Raffles Quay and Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) Towers 1 and 2 into a new real estate fund, which is expected Singapore’s biggest private real estate fund and focus exclusively on managing prime commercial property assets in Singapore.
  • DBS Bank Ltd., Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited, United Overseas Bank Limited, Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Singapore Branch as lenders in the S$643 million five-year green loan to Nxera DCT Pte. Ltd. (Singtel's regional data centre arm) to finance the development of a new 58MW data centre in Singapore, DC Tuas. DBS Bank Ltd., Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited, United Overseas Bank Limited, Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Singapore Branch are also the green loan coordinators for the financing. DC Tuas is the "most hyper-connected" green data centre and will have the highest power density in the Republic.
  • Perennial Shenton Property Pte. Ltd., as borrower, in the financing of the acquisition of, and the S$3 billion green loan syndicated financing of the project development at, 8 Shenton Way. Mandated lead arrangers are DBS, OCBC, UOB, Bangkok Bank, Maybank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, China CITIC Bank and Hong Leong Finance Limited. DBS and OCBC are also the Green Loan Advisors. This financing is also the largest syndicated green loan financing in Asia as at the date of closing of the transaction.
  • ESR Funds Management (S) Limited (the manager of ESR-REIT) and two of the financial advisers to ESR Funds Management (S) Limited, RHB Securities Singapore Pte. Ltd. and United Overseas Bank Limited, in the merger with Viva Industrial Trust by way of a trust scheme of arrangement. The merger valued Viva Industrial Trust at S$936.7 million and created Singapore's fourth largest industrial REIT with approximately S$3 billion in assets.
